Motor insurance is among the classes of insurance which is compulsory in Rwanda like other countries all over the world. It covers third party liability in accordance to the Rwandan law. However, motor insurance can be offered as comprehensive or third party insurance cover depending to the client’s choice. 

Third Party Cover

  • Covers third party/public liability: damage to properties and bodily injuries
  • It covers family members
  • It provides cover to occupants (driver and passengers) in the vehicle
  • It also covers an additional cover for COMESA on request by the client.

Comprehensive Cover

  • Covers third party/public liability: damage to properties and bodily injuries
  • It covers own damage to the vehicle, fire and theft
  • It covers family members
  • It provides cover to occupants (driver and passengers) in the vehicle
  • It also covers an additional cover for COMESA on request by the client.

Private Cars

These are vehicles used for social, domestic and pleasure purposes

Commercial Vehicles (Taxis, Buses)

These are vehicles used for carrying fare paying passengers

Commercial Vehicles (Own Goods)

These are vehicles used for carrying commercial goods owned by the insured

Commercial Vehicles (General Cartage)

These are vehicles used for carrying goods belonging to others for hire or reward

Motorbikes

These are two-wheeled auto-bicycles used for social, domestic pleasure or commercial purposes

Motor Trade Vehicles

These are un-registered new vehicles owned by a corporate organization engaged in sales, services and repairs of vehicles
